is included in the rental fee?
The Salem Herbfarm provides a 40 by 80 foot tent.
Eight-foot sidewalls with cathedral windows are available at no extra
charge. The venue also includes complete access to the grounds immediately
adjacent to the tent and the three formal gardens, parking for 35 cars,
field parking for an additional 40 cars when weather allows, and space
for a 20 foot by 20 foot catering tent. A bride's changing room is also
available inside the gift barn as well as a handicap accessible bathroom
on the south side of the barn. General access to the gift barn and greenhouses
is not available.
How
long do I have use of The Salem Herbfarm venue?
The rental period is seven and one half hours.
Two hours are included for set-up, five hours for the event (5:00 to
10:00pm) and one half hour for breakdown.
Does
The Salem Herbfarm provide catering or may I bring my own?
We have a limited number of select caterers available
to service your special event. Since each caterer is familiar with The
Salem Herbfarm layout and facilities this will ensure that your special
day is stress free with the highest level of quality and service possible.
Working directly with the caterer, you can customize your menu and incorporate
your personal tastes. Whether you want an elaborate formal sit-down
dinner, a simple buffet or custom stations presenting the latest culinary
trends, our select caterers will help you create the reception of your
dreams. Please feel free to contact any of our preferred vendors directly.
We know you will be as impressed with them as we are.
What
about decorations, flowers and any other special arrangements I may
want?
The Salem Herbfarm provides the venue described
above and in our contract. Everything else you could desire for your
event, from the tables and chairs to the decorations and lighting, will
be arranged through one of our preferred caterers. Relying on a single
point of contact for planning and servicing your event means that nothing
will be mixed-up or overlooked on your big day. You can just relax and
have a good time.
Are
candles allowed?
We allow candles as long as they are fully enclosed
in hurricane globes, votive cups or similar holders.
What
are the delivery, set-up and takedown schedules?
Essentially, two hours are provided for set-up,
and all rental equipment and supplies must be picked up prior to 10:00am
on the morning following the event. All vendor deliveries should be
scheduled during the two-hour set-up time frame. Since all of our caterers
are familiar with The Salem Herbfarm's layout and facilities, these
arrangement details are just another thing you don't have to worry about.
How
do I arrange for music and dancing for my event?
The Salem Herbfarm is located in a quiet section
of a sleepy little Connecticut town. The proximity of residences is
such that venue sounds, particularly sounds related to music, must be
kept below certain level. In general, loud, amplified music performed
by a band or played by a DJ is not permitted. If you are looking for
a venue that can accommodate loud, rock and roll music from a live band
or a DJ, then The Salem Herbfarm isn't for you. However, if you prefer
listening and dancing to a variety of classy musicians with a lighter
sound, then The Salem Herbfarm is the place for you. We can recommend
a number of musicians with a wide variety of musical genera. Our recommended
musicians are listed on our web site along with a description of their
musical repertoire. The dance floor can be arranged through your caterer.
Do
you have on-site parking available for my guests?
The Salem Herbfarm parking lot has a flat, crushed
stone surface and can accommodate approximately 35 to 40 cars. An additional
40 cars could park on a grass field immediately adjacent to the event
venue if the weather allows. Parking along the state highway (Route
85) immediately in front of The Salem Herbfarm is strictly prohibited.
Can
The Salem Herbfarm host wedding ceremonies?
During your rental time period you have complete
and exclusive access to The Salem Herbfarm grounds described in the
contract. If you would like to have your wedding ceremony conducted
on-site, feel free.
How
is liquor service handled?
Your caterer will arrange for a trained bartending
staff and is responsible for coordination and supervising alcohol service.
Alcohol service must end at least one half hour before the event is
scheduled to conclude.
Is
a representative from The Salem Herbfarm on-site and available throughout
my event?
To help make your day even more stress free, a
Salem Herbfarm staff member will be on-site during your event to take
care of any unexpected facility situations and to assist the caterer
as necessary.
Is
The Salem Herbfarm event venue available for smaller functions like
birthday parties or family gatherings?
Unfortunately, we do not rent the venue by the
hour or during hours outside of 5:00pm to 10:00pm. We can accommodate
smaller gatherings during our normal venue hours, but at the same rental
fee described in the contract.
